H. Gray Park was born in 1972 and at a young age he was recognized as having an inherit creative talent. He was placed in the Talented and Gifted Programs throughout all of his schooling. He graduated in 1994 with a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art where he was he was formally introduced to plein air painting. His senior year he spent several months in Scotland, painting the fishing villages, inspired by the shapes and colors of the boats. Capturing the essence of this subject matter was an eye-opening experience and he found a true calling to paint nature as he saw it. Upon his return to the States, Gray found new inspiration in his local landscapes.

Gray is a member of a new school of American landscape plein air painters. He engages in vivid conversation with the rich variety of light seen throughout the seasons and his work reflects an authentic connection to the land and a life-long devotion to his craft.
